February 1 – Don’t Shoot: An Opus of the Opulence of Blackness – Museum of the African Diaspora - Inspired by the story of a teacher who enlightened his photography class about the harms of using words adopted by the domain of weaponry, Don’t Shoot is a reclamation of power in not only our art, but our art spaces and art practices. February 2 – Suffragist: Music Celebrating Women Trailblazers - St Mark’s Lutheran Church – Our concert Suffragist is all about trailblazing women, from innovative female perspectives in modern composition, to suffrage songs that women sang beginning in the late 1800s as they fought for the right to vote.
